07 5.9 Software Updates?

Took her in to the dealer to have my knock checked out.Of course it didn't do it for them.
Any how I asked them to see if there are any updates for the engine module available. We also talked about my bigger tires and he said they could update that module for 305 70 17s ? I thought that they couldn't go that big but he said with an 07 they could. Is this true ?
He also said that there were no engine updates for my truck (07 5.9).
He did mention that they were updating the 6.7s like crazy.
Just wondering if this (on my truck) is true.
Thanks for any info

Phil

Not too many responses here (like none).
Got it back from dealer and was told there are no software updates for an 07 5.9 but yes they were able to adjust for 305 tires.I rechecked it with a gps and its now 1 mph off witch is I think about normal.
Could not verify for the knock and they wrote that they drove it 8 miles but only showed 2.So looks like a lot of effort went out to check for that knock.
Thanks all.

I think the 07 6.7s are getting alot of updates from the DPF issues,

The dealerships can calibrate the tires if they know how. It is not as simple as plugging in the new tire size, I think they have to play with gear ratios to make it work.

They said they could not do it for that big of a tire for the prior years but could with an 07.I guess 1 mph off os pretty close.

The process involves sending your VIN to Chrysler over the Starscan. It retrieves any and all updates available for the software you have. As long as the process was followed, they will be correct to tell you that. IIRC it does have preset tire sizes, but now it allows a larger range of revs per mile.

Just curious, did they charge you for the recalibration? If so, how much?

They charged me .5 hrs = $55.00. Not sure if it will affect anything more than the speedo ?

I took my 07 5.9 in for updates as well when i was seeing white smoke. There was a TON of updates. Starscan was hooked up to my truck for a half hour or better downloading stuff. I guess it depends on your specific vin#. I ended up having the #5 injector replaced under warranty. I have a little slight rough idle returning once in a great while so might have got a little bad fuel
