06 revs at stop than surges

Asked about this before and buddy still hasn't figured it out. Can't afford a shop. When you come to a stop. The truck revs up with the brake applied. Than surges off the line for a few seconds like you have applied the accelerator pedal. All without touching the acc pedal. Runs fairly normal while driving. Cuts out on a rare occasion. Any ideas?

Thanks
Kris

Aside from the occasional cutting out, it sounds like what mine did when the torque convertor wasnt unlocking.

Yeap, sounds like the TC won't unlock. Needs a new TC.

Do you have a rail pressure gauge??

Sounds more like a bad fca that is causing the surge. A RP gauge can establish this...

If the converter locks at a stop light it will kill the motor. I had that happen several times till I figured out a problem I had with my co pilot. X2 on the FCA could just swap FCA's and see if that helps him out and puts the problem on your truck then.

I had to get a new TC and a bunch of other trans parts. Mine was not unlocking. So, apparently, it does not always kill the motor if its locked at a stop. If I stayed below 35mph, it would not lock, and I had no problem at a stand still.

I went for a ride with him this morning and what it seems to be doing is wanting to take off when you come to a stop. He applies the brake at a stop sign and it is reving up trying to surge forward. Roads were snowy and it was spinning the tires a little bit. Didn't notice any problems as long as the foot is off the brake. Weird??

Mine did the same thing. Dealership replaced the tranny. Said it was the tc and some broken parts...Kind of scar, I thought my truck was going to shoot off when letting go brake, but it did not really take off that fast. Glad mine was under warranty because I did not have the funds...Good luck

36K drivetrain, you had to purchase the extended warranty to go to 100K.

As to the surging issue, it CAN be a tranny problem if it's an auto, it CAN also be the FCA, but it CAN also be the rail relief valve not opening at decel. The relief valve is known to stick open, but, it also can stick closed. I would clean the electrical connections and use a little dielectric grease on them, might be something that simple.
