Can the resonator found on the 06 models be bought through the dealer and installed on my 04.5? I am wondering if it would help with my 2100-2300 RPM drone that seems to keep getting worse. When I first put my Donaldson on it was kind of like the noise you hear sitting on a cruising jetliner....a hum. Now it is so irritating I try to just get through that band as quickly as possible when accelerating, and avoid it like the plague when cruising. I like to drive 75 on the interstate though, and that is getting right into the worst of it.

 

Installing a Aeroturbine 4040 in front of the muffler should get rid of the drone.
But first make sure all the clamps on the exhaust system are tight, a loose exhaust system will easily resonate.

I'm not familiar with the 06 exhaust system so I gotta ask....the 06's have a cat, resonator, and a muffler?

 

I have checked all my clamps, welds, hangers, etc. I have tried clamping angle iron to the exhaust, etc to cancel out vibration. It really needs something else. Aeroturbine is pretty pricy, and will maybe make the truck too quiet in tandem with the Donaldson muffler. It would probably work though. I was hoping maybe the resonator might work as a cheap fix.
