resonator is a chunk of metal
I saw a show on TV and the exhaust they were working on had a large peice of metal welded to a hanger about 3" off the pipe and they called it a resonator. I figure it must absorb some of the vibration/drone. Sounds like a good idea???
When Dodge did away with the Catalytic converters, they found the had a drone in the exhaust.
They fixed this by putting on the resonator, basically just a mini muffler.
Some who straight pipe their trucks find they have a drone.
Some have fixed this by welding a hunk of metal about where the resonator/muffler would have been.
I guess it should be called a de-resonator, as it gets rid of the resonation.
