06 Ram Start up question

Hello all....I have a question about my start up. Let me start by sayin I recently bought this truck a few days ago. When I was at the dealer and took it for a test drive I noticed the "wait to start light" wasn't on when I turned the key in to that position. I didnt really think much about it at the time beacuse the truck was just driven befoer me and was still hot. After I arrived home tho and let the truck sit for hours I went to start it again......again the light did not come on. My question is is this normal for this year truck during summer temps? I had an 03 before this and the light use to come on during everystart up. Just to be clear I havent had any problems and I usually wait a few sec to start it anyway but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what this problem is??

Thanks

You need to fill out your signature so we know model, trans etc.also your state. I think in 06 the wait to start light does not come on above certain temps.Previous year models did.06 or 07 I believe I read.Did you get a OWNERS manual.I bet its addressed in it.

The '06 and later don't use the grid heater unless needed. I believe it comes on below 50 degrees F.

My grid heater only comes on when ambient temps are below ~45-50F.

white99stang, you may have a bad ambient temperature sensor.

No the light being talked about is the grid heater light, the little curly Q light just left of center. By the way, mine is the same as all the others. It only comes on when its pretty cool like below 45 degrees.

I had an 03, and the grid heater light would come on for the first start of the day unless it was one of our 110 degree days...

On the 06 I have now, the grid heater light doesn't come on nearly as much.

Anyway, welcome to the forums bige...

The red light that you see is the gauge check light, it is checking all bulbs and gauges for proper function, not something you have to wait on by any means.
