06 Mega Cab shudder and DC's solution
I got the word from my local 5 star dealer today on my low speed/take off shudder. They said DC is aware of it, but as of right now they are doing nothing as it's not detrimental to the truck.
We drove other Mega Cabs off the lot today and they all have the shudder from take off.
Apparently the quad cab long box and Mega have the same length frame, but have different length drive shafts due to transfer case location. That's why the quad's aren't experiencing the problem.
So, I guess I'll put my mods back on and drive it until I hear otherwise..
If any of you other Mega Cab guys come up with a fix... let the rest of us poor saps know.

Mine has shuddered since day one, when taking off. I always asssumed it was axle tramp due to the torque and the light weight of the back end. It doesn't do it when loaded or when towing a heavy load.
My QC has the shudder empty - the TSB is for older models....maynot be something that the dealers do on newer models. Really not enough of a problem to make a special trip to the dealer about. I will mention it when in for regular service and see what they have to say.

Assuming I am feeling the same shudder in my 06 mega 4x2... I only experience it with my 5th wheel hitched up in the 5 to 15mph range.
I thought this was because the driveline would be slighty different angle with the weight on the truck.
Do you think it is the same shutter? Anything you think I could or should do with it.

I'm fighting one at work. 06 2wd quad cab long box 2500 2wd auto trans. Empty it's great.....hitch up the fifth wheel and I can experience shudder all the way through first gear. Played with the center mounts and nothing worked. I have some 1 to 3 degree shims on order and will play with them next for the rear pinion angle. Empty to loaded ride height is 3.5 inches. I'm betting it won't make a difference....and yes I've measured the drive angles. Customer towed this same trailer with a 98 2wd with no issues. He did mention that if he took off on a grade with the 98 he could get some shudder, but only for 10-15 feet....not all the way through first gear. Something I did notice that there is a number of different spring configurations between trucks on the lot, but all of the DR body trucks have a much longer front spring segment. I'm really thinking that air bags may be the way to fly with this, but DC won't buy them.
Bosses truck. 06 mega 4x4 3500 single. He recently installed one of those above bed quad haulers. With both quads loaded up it now shudders all the way through first too. The 3500 has a helper spring above the main leaf, but it looks like you would have to squat the rear of the truck nearly 5 inches before it came into play.

I looked at my helper springs and I agree...it would take alot of suspension compression before they would come into play.
Try Timbren load springs first if the problem shudder only occurs when towing. 1. They won't effect factory ride at all and they are maintenance free. 2. They take about 15 minutes to install and they are much cheaper then air bags about $185 dollars.
I used air bags in my first dually and was very unhappy with the unloaded ride, over a pothole and speed bumps the truck suspension would snap and make the ride very jarring. The Timbrens are a urethane/rubber load spring that work great. 16,000 miles towing a 5ver with 3400lb pin weight and the truck rides like a cadillac, plus the unloaded ride remains factory stock. Hope this helps.

I've researched this topic A LOT. Most of my questions have been answered here on this site. This is what I know.
The problem exits at the "pinion angle"... the angle of the drive shaft as it connects to the rear axle, whether you're loaded or unloaded. Dodge techs do have a device that measures this. No they won't fix it.
Mine had it too. I used a 1/4" thick flat stock, cut it to length drilled holes to match the carrier barring bolts, dropped/shimmed the carrier 1/4", problem fixed.
Some will have to use more or less.
After my accident I drove 5 different trucks all long beds, all with a launch shudder, all of them not fixed and not going to be fixed, most dealers I talked with had no idea what it was.
hope this helps
