06 cold start up problem's=white smoke

Here's the story truck has 6k on it right now I had a edge box installed on the truck for about 2k on it and was giving me tons of problems so i returned it.Had a few fueling CEL'S when i had the box installed. Now every morning I start the truck it misfires and white smoke comes out for about 5-10 sec's after that it clears up and all is normal, the colder it is the worse it is. I have taken it to the dealer twice and they say there is nothing wrong, im thinking its a injector problem but can't confirm it.

anyone else ran into this???

Thanks
Chris

Only time I heard of a similar problem, the truck had a defective air intake heater. The engine was impossible to start under 20 degrees F, and did what you are describing at 25 degrees F up to 40 degrees F, and was OK above that. The air intake heater was replaced, and no more problems.

Are you seeing your heater come on? You can tell if your voltmeter on the truck drops way down when the wait to start light is on.

Just a thought.

You may just need the cold start reflash. Does the wait to start light come on? if not it could be a grid heater problem. If thats not it then it could be injectors being you had a box on it and if you had it turned up very high. So if it turns out to be injectors don't ask Dodge to pay for it to be repaired being you did have abox on it.

I bet it is! The "Wait to start" on the '06 is on the center of the RPM gauge. It is a yellow light that looks like a corkscrew with 3 turns in it. Turn the ignition on when it's below 40 degrees F, and it will stay on for a few seconds. The colder it is, the longer it stays on. Once it goes off, start your engine and you should see a marked improvement. Good luck!

That's not normal (unless you are in a very, very warm climate).

I'd take the Edge stuff off and make an appointment at the dealer.

it has also been to the dealer 2 times for this and they say nothing is wrong.

I think the heater supposed come on when the manifold temp is below 66 deg.

I just had this problem this morning. My truck only has 1300 miles on it but has been started outside when 20-30* a bunch of times with no problems (both plugged in and not plugged in). It sat in a heated garage (~50*) all night and then cranked longer this morning and then missed and stalled. Then I noticed there was some white smoke. Hasn't missed a beat since, but this made me nervous because the truck was relatively warm when it happened.

My 06 has had this problem for a long time rough idle at start up! Mines been at the dealer (3TIMES) said nothing wrong.(BS) I know better but soon as the truck warms up it is fine. I have taken the TST off so many times trying to figure it out i could put it on in my sleep.
