06 Clutch/DMF going out?

I was merging onto the highway today and was going to accelerate hard to get over with out being run over. when i did i went through 5th just fine and switched to 6th, when i hit the accelerator the rpms jumped up quickly with hardly any acceleration. i let off, let the rpms fall back and then pushed it and it accelerated fine. I was wondering if the flywheel or clutch could be going.

Truck has 108K, bought with 101K, I'm not sure if the DMF ever got replaced and if it did, if it was another stock one put back on.

I also have a Jr. on the truck. SW3/def/def. Any advice of the settings could be helpful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Yeap, you just blew through the clutch. Better put that one on your list to get upgraded.

That is what i figured. Hopefully i can baby it for a little bit and get by for the moment. i don't have the cash at the moment but have a big job coming in April or early May that will pay 4-5K for a week or so of work and maybe i can get a little back from taxes.

I've looked at clutches a little in my spare time but haven't really decided what to get. I'm pretty set with south bend but wasn't sure whether to do a single or a street double. Its sounding like the double disc was going to be better choice. I don't want anything to jerky for daily driving. i also haul hay during the summer and need to make sure it will work for this also. Would the dd3250 work well for these or should i look into something else.

I'm in the same boat. Mine has 102k on stock clutch and I had to drop the Smarty to SW1 to keep from burning through the clutch.

While the SB is a great clutch and a great company, I am 99% sure I'm going to use the Valair dual disc for mine. Excellent reviews and will hold every bit of power I plan on putting to it and lower cost as well! Just make sure you DO NOT reuse the stock DM flywheel!!

When mine needs changed, it will be the Valair DD. I haul hay, haul flatbeds, haul TT, etc . . all are usually heavy loads, and having a DD is the only way to go with heavy loads. The Valair DD kit replaces the flywheel and the hydraulics along with the clutch discs, good kit, I know several people who are running the Valairs and they love them. I have driven trucks with both, the Valair is smooth, nice, a good heavy duty clutch replacement. Plus, I don't want to be replacing a clutch again, or for at least a goodly long time, once will probably be more than enough for me.

I've haven't heard to much about valair but what little i have was good. I'll have to look into it more and maybe go with them. Wouldn't mind saving a little cash as long as its going to hold up.

I was trying to figure out what to do on my settings. I wondered if turning the tq management to stock would help or if i need to turn it to SW1 also. I know the best way to help it is my right foot.

Depending on what you want to do with your truck. I pull a fiver that weighs in at around 13-14k. When I pulled it up a grade with the stock clutch it would slip bad but with no trailer no problem. The truck had at that time 115k on the clock. So it was time to switch to a better clutch. For what I do and no big mods other than whats on my sig. I found a South Bend G56-Ok fit my driving just right. No more slipping plenty of pulling power but that clutch package is only rated up to 400 hp. But to each his own just my 2 cents....

I've been doing some research and I think I will probably go with Valair. I was thinking of doing the street dual, organic rated for 550hp. If I understand things correctly, ceramic is going to be to jerky for a daily driver. if anyone has any other suggestions i would like to hear them.

Yep, ceramic is horrible if towing heavy. I had it on my last truck and you start to let out and it would buck like crazy. I thought my clutch was heading out a month ago but still hanging in there with 73,000 miles. The valair is what will be going in my truck next.

I noticed in your sig you have Kilby on board air. How do you like it. I was looking at getting their engine mounted system for my 06 for use on the farm. I would like to run air tools of it. I've had a compressor on my 98.5 but it didn't have near enough capacity.
