'05 won't pass CO emissions
Had it tested today, results were 77% opacity with the limit for passing being 38%. The guy said he hadn't even put a load on it yet. Pretty much filled the shop with smoke.
The truck has a new air filter & fuel filter. It has 197k on it. I recently checked the turbo for play and it seemed normal. I checked the intercooler boots, all tight, unless I missed one.
It has smoked alot more than I would guess a stock truck would since I got it 2 years ago but this is the first time I've had to have the emissions done. There's no external programmer that I can see, everything appears stock.
Any ideas?

I also beat he will have a few bad injectors. The thing is, if you let it go you have a very good chance of melting a few pistons. Stock trucks can melt pistons, they are the most common for this to happen.
I found someone pretty close to me that's willing to loan me his smarty for a small fee. It should be cheaper than fuel to Fort Morgan and back or overnighting Madhat's smarty from AZ.
One more question to anyone who's tried it: Is it fairly certain that I'll pass with the smarty set on zero?
Passed!
I used a borrowed smarty and set it to level 0 (half power). Retested today and passed with flying colors - 11% opacity this time compared with 78% last time. My truck is a serious dog right now but at least I can get plates.
I'll reset it to stock power in the next day or two and see if it smokes then. If it still smokes bad at stock power then I'll have to start trouble shooting sensors and such. Although, if it runs good and gets decent mileage, I may not even worry about it.

You might as well crank it up to sw5 or 7 and play a little while you have a Smarty!
And then we can all take bets on the time line of when you will have one ordered ...

I'm under the impression after talking to him that I can only leave the truck at the stock setting otherwise my truck and his smarty will be 'locked' together and he won't be able to use it on his truck. This would make sense to me so that someone with a smarty wouldn't be able to upgrade all his friends trucks. I was hoping to get a little power upgrade out of this deal but I can't complain.
