05 Shaking/Vibrator
05 Shaking/Vibrator
I just picked up a new 2005 qc swb and i think i have the dreaded vibe. I only have 500 miles on her, but at around 50-62 she has a shake to it and the steering wheel shakes as well. It does it at different speeds within that range of 50-62. It isnt a horrbile vibration, but it is noticable and especially noticable in the steering wheel. Other speeds ourside this range are smooth as ever. Doesnt matter if im on the throttle or not still same vibrations. What the heck should i tel the service mgr. when i bring it in???
Sounds like a "different" vibration problem than the driveline vibration that others are seeing usually around 70 MPH.
It may be a problem in the suspension. Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it then let us know what the problem was.

Yea the vibration doesnt seem to be at speeds higher than 65. I have 3.73 gears. The most noticable of the vibration comes thru the steering wheel. It shakes pretty good at 60mph. The seats will shake a little also. Any other ideas, dealer is taking it in thursday where i will probably get the "its normal for a diesel" and we cant replicate the problem".

my 05 does it between 65 and 75. There is a loud droning sound like an old propeller driven airplane and very slight vibration. The dealer thought it might be the front u-joint on rear shaft, but it didn't help. I doubt it will ever be solved by the dealer but i know the solution.
my symptoms were just like what hamma jamma described. I described it has having felt like driving with big, nasty mudders on. I had no steering wheel vibration at all. My dealer just installed a new rear driveline last week (5500 miles). Problem solved.
Dealer fixed the shimmy in the steering wheel. Guess a tire was out of balance. no more shakes. The mechanic who went for a ride with me told me i should go to the local tire shop and have them balance the tires for me and mabe check to see if i had a bunk tire. I was like *** i have 500 miles on a brand new truck and u think im going to pay for balancing and possibly a new tire!!!! Needless to say when we got back to the dealership I told the service manager what the clown mechanic suggested and he promptly said they will take care of any issues. Cant believe these people at some dealerships. Anyways Im glad they fixed the problem....
