Found a complete drop-in 600 that came out of a wrecked '05 dually that never made it to the $tealership (maybe 25 miles on it). The salvage yard wants $5600 for it with no core charge. One thing about it though, Dodge no longer backs it according to the salvage yard. Is the savings worth the risk?

Well I would say the savings is worth the risk. I really haven't heard of any major problems at all with the 05 Cummins. Some of the early 05's had plastic intercoolers that would blow...but that is about it. That has since been resolved.

 

I think these are early '05s. Manufactured in late '04.....


still, the motor I would be replacing runs and has some value, so the actual replacement isn't going to be expensive at all.
