05/06 Obdii

ANyone happen to know if the 05/06 Cummins is ODBII PWM or use the new CAN protocol?

I have an OBDII scanner that can read everything but the newer CAN protocol.

Thanks!

Our trucks uses the CAN Bus. Check with your scanner manufacturer for software updates and adapter cables.

MikeyB / Biglock,
Thanks, I appreciate the info. Looks like I'll need a new scan tool; Mine (Auterra)will not do CAN & Auterra will only sell me their new unit. Oh, well; It still works on Wifey's Dak.

I'm having some shifting problems that I'm being told is electronic related. Is there a scanner that you guys know will work on the 03's and 04's?

I have a Palm VII PDA, so I tend to gravitate towards the Palm software scanners. I have the Auterra . It's OK, but from the descriptions, i think the Autotap is better. They seem to incorporate more of the OEM codes into their software. Autotap also sells PC software to use on a laptop or desktop pc (in your garage, of course). When I buy the next truck, I'll probably buy an Autotap.

If you are just looking for a stand alone scanner, to just extract code numbers, try Auto XRay and their EZ Link OBDII scanner. I've seen similar models at Autozone, Checkers, etc. for ~$150-$250.

The advantages of the palm & PC scanners is having the ability to read sensors and collect data for later analysis.

HTH
