04 Oil/Tranny Cooler
Hey guys I have a buddy looking for an aftermarket oil/tranny cooler for his 04 3500 2wd dually. He has the automatic transmission. He does a lot of travelling around to construction sites and hauls some heavy roofing trailers. I'm at work and don't have time to search on here so sorry for the repeat post if this is already on here. He said he read about one in diesel power mag and wants to get a good aftermarket one. I don't know anything about these since mine is a manual.
If you guys could give me some advice and options of some different ones to look at I would greatly appreciate it.

Oil coolers come in two basic types: Stacked plate and fin/tube. The fin and tube type are common, fairly inexpensive, and easier to mount. They use standard rubber hoses and hose clamps. Some will even have a small fan attached to them. When people talk about a trans cooler, this is usually what they have/want.

The stacked plate is more durable, and more efficient. Unfortunatly, it's also more expensive. Check with companies like Mocal and Russell.

This picture is an engine oil cooling kit, but you get the idea.
If you're looking for a complete kit that has all the little parts and mounting brackets specifically for that truck, then your choices are pretty limited. But, if you're a handy guy and can do basic fab work, you can save a bunch of money and get exactly what you want.
