04 dies after bad fuel

hey guys I got a buddy with a 04 with 150k on it. He thinks he got bad fuel and now the truck starts and run but when you try to give it heavy throttle it SHUTS OFF. We have changed the fuel filter and it is throwing no codes.

What else could be wrong?

What does it idle like?Rough,smooth.....

idles smooth, also tank has been dropped and clean diesel put in.

Anyway to verify the lift pump is working,making pressure?

no not really truck is stuck in New Orleans.

The lift pump is in the tank correct? How would you go about testing it?

If its an 04 its mounted below the fuel filter housing if it has never had the intank upgrade.Gonna need a pressure gauge to verify its doing its job.
