Anybody know the difference in fuel mileage between the early 03's with SO motor,47RE tranny and the later 03's with the HO motor, 48RE tranny.

Looking at a early 3500 dually with 3.73 rear end.

Mileage seems to vary all over the place...drive the truck and find out...that would be your best bet.

I would vote HO unless the price is a huge factor!

I have an early 03 SO, 373 LS, 47RE.

Highway, cruise control on, 65MPH, I get 23.5MPG.

All around driving, half highway, half town, I get 18MPG

Towing 5er I get around 11MPG

These are all hand calculated.

 

I have an 03 SO with the 48re and get 20-25mpg on highway and 15-17mpg around town.

drove the wifes '03 from central wv to myrtle beach with the stock tires and ez on 5 got 22.8 calculated by hand ...

avg 18-19 around town with the 35's on ...

and that's with the boss driving, and she's not easy on it
