03 will not start
it is a friends o3 ctd with 160,000 on the clock no codes , if u spray with eather it will fire right up . run like a top . pulls a trailer just fine . shut it off will not start , it has new cp3 pump rapter lift pump , stock other than that . quad cab automatic 2x4. could it be that check valve in the rail ? no funny smoke from tail pipe . any help would be good . it will on start with the magic in a can lol
Has he had a leakdown test done on the injectors? This is common with the 03' trucks. One leaky injector and the rail will have trouble building enough pressure to crank. He can have a dealer replace bad injector(s) or pull all six, send them to Don M at F1 diesel, have them gone through and rebuilt while having the new Flux 1 tips install. New injectors from the dealer are around $1200 a piece, from Cummins $600 a piece. Tips from Don $1100 and change plus $100 to $200 a piece to be rebuilt, depending on what is wrong with them. Call Midatlantic diesel or TRE Diesel and get a definite price quote.
Be real carefull with your magic, as combined with your grid heater can cause intake pieces to dissapear in a bright flash and a loud bang.
Other than that, there are lots of threads here about hard starting '03s turning out to be injectors. I'm not saying that is what's wrong with your's, but if it is, look into sending them out to F1 for new tips, testing and repair if necessary. Mine is at 167k miles and I plan on sending them in soon.

went thru 3 sets on my 03 they never leaked into the oil all they did was allow the fuel to return to the tank. the pressure valve on the rail could be the problem but in order to really know you need to do a return flow test on the injectors. or if its cheaper buy the valve
FCA is on the back of the cp-3.It has an electrical connector plugged in it.The relief valve on the rail probably isn't an issue being it will run after you shoot it with ether.Fuel in the oil is from a cracked injector.Totally different problem than what you are describing. You more than likely are dealing with 1 or more worn out injectors.
