03 Still not Starting Cold
03 Still not Starting Cold
I have posted about this problem before but it is still happening. I have no signs of a bad injector such as white smoke or any smoke or rough idle and no drop or rise in my oil or coolant. If I don't plug the block heater in, it will not fire. I have new batteries and the starter turns plenty fast. I have watched my water temp. and noticed that once it reaches 80 - 85 deg with the block heater it fires right up. Anything less than 80 deg water temp and no start. It cranks and cranks but acts like it is getting no fuel. I even disconnected the intake in the dark this morning at 5:30 to see if the intake heater is working. I could see it glowing red. It was only 35 deg here this morning. Like I said, as soon as the water temp reaches 80 deg or above with the help of the block heater, and the wait to start light only comes on for a flash and not the long cycle it starts right up with no smoke or rough idle. It acts like it has some sort of sensor that lets it start once the block is heated. Anyone seen anything like this. Im getting ready get rid of this thing if I can't get it figured out.
RP sensor doesn't work. Im replacing the stock lift pump this weekend. Is it possible to be loosing pressure between the tank and cp3? Maybe at or around my stock pump on the firewall? I don't mind replacing the injectors if I knew for sure that is my problem. I would just rather spend that money on a clutch if I don't need the sticks.
Thankfully I have been saving. I have my airdog 100 ordered and am going to install it first. I have been needing it anyway. I do trust and appriciate what you guys are telling me about the injectors, it just baffles me why I don't have any of the other symptoms like the smoke, idle, or fuel in the oil or water. I also noticed my last oil and filter change, it started normal for about two days after changing the fuel filter and then back to the same problem. And why the thing starts perfect as long as my water temp stays above 80 deg I will never understand. Anyway, thanks for the replys and I will post the fix when it happens.

Temperature sensors: Using the appropriate scan tool, before starting engine after an overnight soak, verify that the Intake Air Temperature (IAT), Engine Coolant
Temperature (ECT), Inlet Air Temperature, and the Battery Temperature sensors are showing similar and appropriate temperatures. Are the sensors showing similar and appropriate temperatures?
Pressure sensors: Using the appropriate scan tool, before starting engine after an overnight soak, verify that the Intake Manifold Pressure and Inlet Air Pressure sensors
are showing similar and appropriate pressure. Are the sensors showing similar and appropriate pressures?
Fuel Rail Pressure sensor: Using the appropriate scan tool, before starting engine after an overnight soak, verify that the fuel rail pressure reads 0 (+/- 500 PSI). Does the fuel rail pressure read 0 (+/- 500 PSI)?
