still not starting

Hey I have been on here and asked this question a couple of times. What makes a diesel not start? If you park it facing downhill it starts every time if you park it facing uphill or on level ground you have to crank for a good while. I have replaced both pumps and recently all the lines from the tank to the lift pump. For a week after replacing the lines it started no matter what. Now it is back to the same old starting routine. Any suggestions would really help.

A friend had one doing that and we found it was the cap for the fuel filter. It was loose. 2001 3500.

It has to be getting air some place. Pressurize from the filler spout and listen along the lines for the leak.

Stupid Question but how do you keep air from coming out the vent in the tank?

Could be overflow valve is worn and allows the system to drain back to the tank.
