03 with a clutch problem?

I've got a 03 6 speed with 125k on it and 50k of those are hard in town pulling miles. My clutch has been acting funny the past couple weeks and Thursday when I went to put it in reverse it was hard to get in and when I left off the pedal it made a squeaking noise went to push the clutch in again and the truck kept going. It also didn't want to go back into any gear. I went ahead and ordered a south bend Friday but after pulling the tranny the stocker still has some material on it. What else could be the problem?

It could be worn parts in the pressure plate, release bearing, or a slave and master cylinder issue. It sounds like the pressure is not fully being released off the clutch friction disc, letting it drag so to speak. At least you will have more room to play with the SBC. Good luck...

When you get your kit and make the change, check the old pilot bearing and the imput shaft on the tranny. Not being able to get it back into gear is simptonmatic of the pilot bearing not allowing the tranny to turn when you disengage the clutch.

I've seen the imput shafts torn up by the pilot bearing in the past. Also my last encounter with the SB clutch (2000 3500) was not good the first time around. It was loud and making all kinds of noise with the pedal up. Noise went away when the clutch pedal was depressed. The second kit was OK.

The input shaft on the transmission had alot of build up on the end and it seemed to me that the bearing on the input shaft was making more noise than normal. How would I determine if it was the slave cylinder or master cylinder messed up?

Are you talking about the Pilot Bearing or the bearing for the imput shaft that is inside the tranny? The throwout bearing is what rides on the clutch fingers and is operated by the hydraulic piston from the master cylinder.
