At $16k for a new motor and at $11/gallon for oil in Walmart, I think the extra 2.5 gallons of oil you would put in the motor would be money well spent.
I change mine every 5k, just to get under it and poke around.

When I was taking mine to a shop it was 145 with syn, filter, and the other checks they do. Now, my labor changes are about 13 ish for filter and Rotella T6 syn for 19-22 a gal =lets say 60 ish so say 75 at the highest

I supply my own oil (Amsoil) and filter, and Jiffy Lube does all the labor for $25. I've watched them work, and they actually do the job the right way. Even fill the new filter with oil before mount it. No fuss, no mess, no oil to get rid of, and no dirty hands.
