Zeroing the Steering Wheel without a sector shaft connected
Thanks guys. Lots of answers but still would like to hear from someone who can tell me how to get it back to where it needs to be before I put the steering shaft back on.
You removed the intermediate shaft.
The steering wheel was locked when you removed the intermediate shaft.
The wheels were pointing pretty darn close to straight forward when you removed the intermediate shaft.
IF that's the case, just get the tires pointing straight and install the intermediate shaft. (if it's "off" a bit, just turn the tires a bit one way or another). Leave the steering wheel locked.
If the steering wheel was not locked or has been turned after removal? You're in a bit of a pickle. You'll just have to "connect it back up and hope for the best".
