Wipers

Ever since I bought my truck in May. The wipers would never work right. I think it is a wiper relay. But, I have no clue. Can you confirm

Conditions,

I have intermintent wipers. When I turn them on. It will follow the setting for aprox. 3 wipes. Then it will go to slow always on mode. Once it goes to this mode, when I put the wiper in the off position, the wiper will continue to run and stop anywhere it wants. I get it back to the bottom of the shield by turning on and off the wipers. Is it the relay? or do I have some other lurking electrical problem?

I just posted a topic on headlight trouble and found the Multi-switch could very well be my trouble and this Multi-switch controls wipers, headlights, turn signal, ect. So this might also be your situation.

Sounds like a wire getting hot and building resistance (low voltage). Check the switch connector and the wiper motor, and the bulkhead connector at the firewall. If the switch failed, check the wires in the connector.

Had the same problem on my wifes Chrysler van a few years back right after we bought it. If I remember correctly they replaced the switch.

There is also an intermintent module under the dash that occasionally goes bad

Maybe that's why its called the intermittent module

When I bought my 97 new, the wipers totally quit the first day. Took it back and they replaced the wiper motor, sounds like you have different symptoms though.
