wet drivers floormat!~!!
ok folks, i cant figure it out. this is on my 96 that is sitting in my driveway going through a major makeover and becoming a SW 3500 pulling truck. it runs for a few minutes at a time on occasion and has rarely been driven in the 3 months ive owned it. i just noticed the wet floors on the drivers side and it seems to be wet up by the gas pedal. any ideas? the heater core gurggles but i dont think thats the problem since i dont smell any coolant in the cab......any help is greatly appreciated!!

Water leaks s#@k! The good news is, unlike a house, your dealing with a smaller area. The problem with water leaks is they can enter in one spot and show up somewhere else. I would say pull out the hose and start with the windshield. Have someone stand in the bed and run the hose on a "lower" flow. Start on one side of the windshield having the person in the bed let the water flow over the windshield molding while you look inside. Do it in sections for a several minutes at time because it may take several minutes before it makes it from the leak to where you can see it by the pedals. My gut is telling me it's coming in around the windshield somewhere(I had an S-10 do that). Do the same thing around the doors too. Water always finds the easiest way down, but, it probably won't be a straight drop. Just like a house roof leak, it can come in on one side and show up on the other side of the house.
My third brake was leaking and the water was running down to the driver's side front and pooled there, resealed the light with some silicone and it's now dry. Might want to check there.
i agree with the windsheild leaking. had the same thing happen to me on the passenger side. pulled the black strip off the side of the window and filled it with windsheild sealant. no more leaks

Easy way to find leaks:
Tape off the exit vents at at the bottom rear of each door, windows up, turn the vent fan on high. This will pressurize the cab, now you can spray soapy water on the likely spots and look for bubbles.

Way back when, my then new 95 got wet carpeting around the drivers seat near the door sil. Long story short, the dealer called the "leak doctor" and he told me it was pretty common and an easy fix: rear window seal near the 3rd brake light. Never had a problem after his 10 minute repair. Good luck!
