Nothing like the 70's 80's diesels for dependibility and durability. If you wanted to take it a step further go Detroit 3 stroke or a Marine 2 stroke
I'd need a fuel cell for water and a garden of some sort for a food source. Lots of rounds for the weapons, floatation rigging. I have a good imagination, but real estate may be an issue

Around this area, Metro DC, you'd want to Shelter-in-Place for a couple of days, then bug out on a dual sport motorcycle like a KLR 250. Even the 2.5ton can not push through the traffic nightmares we get around here on a regular basic. No telling what havoc a real "issue" would cause.
But if you are talking expedition vehicles... well that's another story! A FJ40 with an OM617 on 34" skinny tires pulling light trailer with the same wheels and tires.

The 60 series will simply haul more.
For an individual bug out, I might go with the bike for manuverability, but if there's more than 2 of you, probably more than 1, I'd leave it for the trailer or a rack as a back up/scout vehicle.
While highly manuverable, nimble and quick, it's also noisey, leaves the rider open at all times to the elements, and is of course limited as to what it/you can carry.

Diesel Dawg...that's exactly what I get. Nothing like a duce and half. A multi fuel one would be cool. If you are going off road it would be hard to beat one of these. The price is very nice on these too.

Ik this post is old but here are my thoughts. An international scout with a 4bt, front and rear dynatrac dana 80 axles, ORD Doubler 4:1 Dual Transfer Case, and a custom exoskeleton.
