My vent switch is stuck on defrost and wont change when I turn the dial, anyone know what could be wrong?

does your 4x4 work? if not you might need a vacuum pump, or you have a vacuum leak.

Check for a vacuum leak. The likely spot is a "t" that's up buy the cowl on the left side of the engine.

popped the hood, there is a tiny line (about 1/16") that fell down and melted on the manifold. there is nothing inside the tube. is this the problem? I can take pics if needed. Also can I just repair this section or do I need to purchase the entire line.

yes the vacume line is your problem. i just went through this same problem on my 01. you should just be able to repair the line. mine was split and i just took the two ends and put shrink tube on it and it has been fine ever since.

the problem line is on the cowl.
