Two Problems, AC and Powerstearing

I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 Diesel 2x4

AC is leaking coolant and constantly needs to be recharged. Mechanic told me today the leak was from the front seal of the compressor. He says the seal can not be replaced and the whole compressor would have to be replaced. Does this sound right or is he trying to mke an extra $?

Also, powerstearing fluid is leaking. Same mechanic says the hydroboost needs to be replaced, says the seals cant be replaced on this either. Again, does this sound correct? I read a post earlier of someone who rebuilt their hydroboost because the seals were leaking.

I'm looking at a little over $1000 parts and labor to replace the compressor and the hydroboost and just want to make sure i'm not getting taken to the cleaners.

Any recomendations are appreciated.

I don't know about the AC but you can get a rebuild kit for the Hydroboost. A friend of mine had to replace his recently and got one at Advance Auto for less than $200.00. Do a google search for Hydoboost for your year model there is a guy doing a rebuild and has pictures.
