Truck not starting PLEASE HELP
Truck not starting PLEASE HELP
Well I had to replace the gear box in my truck and I disconnected the NEG. on both batteries and then I jacked the front end of the truck up and put it on jack stands. I started Friday night and only got half way done, then I couldn't do anything yesterday so the truck just sat there and then I finished it today. Filled up the power steering pump with fluid and went to turn the truck on so that I could bleed the system and nothing but a "CLICK" then I tried to start it again and nothing and then as soon as I went to turn the key out of the run position I would hear the same "CLICK" again. They truck was running fine before I went to change the gear box and as far as I know it didn't rain this weekend here. Nothing got wet that I know of and I didn't see any sparks when working the truck. I have all AUX power, like windows mirrors and locks, radio all of it works just wont start. I have no idea were to start or what to do so please help me out with anything no matter how dumb it sounds. I did disconnect the NEG on both batteries and used a voltmeter to check the voltage and both batteries were reading at like 12 point something. Thanks guys
are you positie you have a good connection at the battery? turn the lights on and try to start it. there is a possibility the starter contacts just crapped out but it seems kinda random for them to do it right then. I would tripple check my battery connections.
More than likely it is the starter contacts. Easy to replace.

I checked my battery contacts and the headlights are bright, but it would not start. I turn the key to the run position so that the glow plugs can warm up, then when its ready I go to crank it and I just get one click and that is it. I try to start it again and nothing not even the click. Then when I take the key out of the run position I get the same click again, like a relay or something. It does not give me a bunch of clicks like a starter going out would. Is there a way to check the starter contacts with a meter so that I don't just throw money at this problem?

Ok that is the thing that gets me, I had no problems what so ever starting my truck then I disconnect the batteries for 2 days and now nothing. I have had a starter go out on me before and it would give you some warning that it is on its way out. Have you knowing a starter to just stop like that?
