trouble finding square fuses

I blew the fuse for my brakelights and I am having a hard time finding a replacement. The fuse is located under the hood in the power distribution center. I have never really seen a fuse like this before. It is square and about as big around as a AA battery and about half as long. It has a clear top where you can see inside of it. I checked Auto Zone and they did not have any or seem to know what I was talking about. Is this a dealer only item? If not is there a name for these types of fuses?

I found them at Oreilleys. They are called FMX fuses. It is funny how Auto zone did not have a clue what they were.

I found some at my local autozone, but would you believe the counter guy called them "cow tooth" fuzes? Works for me. Check around, they are for sure out there.
Ed

Re:trouble finding square fuses

I got all mine at Chy's. dealers. They all have them I have found. I went thru a lot of them, 20 amp ones. Found out I had a faulty Prodigy brake controler. Got it exchanged for a new one and installed a 30 amp. No more problems. You can take the top off of those fueses with a small screw driver and stick a small, very small wedge in there to push the one prong over to make contact again. I don't always advise it' but it might get you home or to a service place. The fuses are not cheap' but the smaller the dealer the cheaper the fuse. That was my findings.

Diesel selling for 1.39 at the local truck stop

Waam Holland, Mich.

Re:trouble finding square fuses

My NAPA dealer carried a good supply. No trouble finding one for me.

I stick with NAPA they have everything. Napa seems to have more stuff for OTR, heavy equipment and truck. All the rest have flashing neon lights and fuzzy dice. The dealer trys to rape everyone. -Anthony
