Tow Mirror Swap part numbers?

I'm looking into the 3rd gen power mirror swap for my 01 but I'm not sure which mirrors to look for on Ebay with all the talk about the 06 model mirrors being different.

Does anyone know the correct model number power mirrors to get, and how to tell the difference btween ones that will work and ones that won't?

do a search on this we were talking about it 2-3 weeks ago. I think if you want the power towers you have to have 2 sets, one none power 2nd gen towers and a set of power towers for a 3rd gen and take the mounts apart and change them out, IF I remimber right

I've done many searchs and you are correct with your info, but I was hoping to get some part numbers to make it fool proof for myself and others in the future.

From what I've gathered the following "may" work correctly for the power mirrors:

Right Hand #55077444ak

Left Hand #55077445AL

These need to be verified.

If they say: OEM P/N: 82207298, then these are the newer 06 mirrors and not the 02-05 same profile mirrors.

Thank you. That helps.

Will you, or anyone else, explain exactly where the difference in the 06 model mirros are so I can visually distinguish them from the 02-05?

I can try to help you with this since I ordered a set of power mirrors for my mirror swap and got the wrong ones. I ordered the power mirrors for a 03-05 truck through a dealer. I received mirrors for an 06. The dealer told me this is what they are using for all replacement mirrors on the 03-06 trucks, even though I explained to them they were different. When I compared them, the pivot point on the 06 mirror is located farther away from the base of the mirrors. Also, the shape of the arm is a little different. I have been hesitant about ordering new mirrors, since I do not want to get the wrong ones again. I will be curious to see what the correct part number is so I can order the correct mirrors.

The base of the 06 mirrors are longer by about an inch and a half. When you put on the 2nd gen mirror base onto the 06 head, this is where the gap will show. The other difference is where the mirror arm meets the base, the mirror arm on the 06 mirrors are more round where the 2nd gen arm kinda flattens out. It takes some additional modification via grinding of matal and plastic to make the 06 work with the 2nd gen base, but I did it and it doesn't look bad at all. I tell you, it's great to have power mirrors!

Ok: Got some Numbers and pictures for those interested in this swap:

Part numbers you want are:

Power Mirrors (02-05)
Right Side: #55077444AG
Left Side: #55077444AL

YOU DO NOT WANT 02-06 part #82207298. They are different, but as 01RAMer stated can be made to work with extra modifications.

I have pics of both models. Can someone host them so I can link them here?
