Touchy brakes

For the last two months or so the brakes on my truck have been very sensitive after rain or even a dew. They will lock up when I just barely touch the brake pedal. After driving for little while the brakes return to normal. What gives? It did not use to do this so I am thinking this is not normal or is it?

Totally normal.
Your drums are flash rusting while it's parked and making them stick.
About the only thing you can do is be aware of it and apply the brakes in some non-critical areas to remove the rust before you get in traffic.

Bizarre. I don't like it. I have owned the truck for just over 2 years and this problem just came up. I changed the rear brake pads about 10 months ago other than that I can't think of what factors have changed. Why does this just start to happen? Oh well. Thanks Bill.

On an old GMC I found a litle dab of grease on the raised bosses of the backing plate, where the shoes rest helped.

I am a little dull. I don't know what the raised bosses of the backing plate is or are. Could I get a some further details on this?

Thanks

Mine used to do that to until I changed the rear brake cylinders to the GM one ton cylinders.

Yank the drums off and look around. You just might need new axel seals (gear lube on the shoes can also cause those symptoms)
