Time for a new track bar so my question is..

Just picked up a 96 that needs a new track bar. So is a Luke Link as good as a trackbar retrofit kit to use 2003 and up track bar?

And does anyone know if the track bar frame mount on a 2003 and up Dodge bolts on or is it welded into the frame?

i've heard lots of praise for the lukes link but more for the '03 up conversion. i would think the mount is welded on '03 up trucks much easier to just get the bracket check out www.sourceautomotive.biz thats where i got my setup and i'm happy with it

bottom of this link has lots of info for you to choose from, I tried lukes link and it did not work on my truck, If I had known about lindstad I would have ordered the pieces and done it, I have the 3rd gen, and no regretts

From what I've researched I believe the 3rd gen bracket with the corresponding track bar (adjustable one if you are running any lift over 4") will work best. A little more expensive but solves the problem for good.... I plan on going with the DT ProFab setup as it is adjustable and runs a reasonable $395.... JM2C

Thanks for all the links. I think I am leaning towards the 3rd gen adapter plate and track bar.....

I say go for the 3rd Gen set up, it'll improve your steering and handling! The nice thing about the source automotive bracket was that it didn't require any drilling. The instructions were kind of blurry but they are also on their web site.

I tried the lukes link kit on my track bar as well.
IMHO it is a band aid solution at best.
Lasted 3 months on my truck and kept hitting my diff cover.

Or you can get one from NAPA that has a lifetime warrenty and get it replaced for free everytime it wears out. Hmmm. Just a thought.

I had a lifetime moog, and after my 3rd trip (every 2-3months) I got tired of changing them, and the automotive store was starting to give me the evil eye. I suspect they were going to start declining any future warranty requests. I installed the SSI 3rd gen back in may and its still tight, that was approx 50,000kms (30,000miles) but lots of hours of city driving my hour meter says since Jan 09 till jan 10, I logged 1750hrs of run time... thats lots of use...more than most

Another vote for NAPA. I changed my 2002 stock bar at 45k with the NAPA and at 92k it is still tight (but I drive like an old lady)!
I think it was less than 125$$$
