These wheels are getting dull....
I've got some factory 16x8 alloy wheels (came off a 2002). I've got some pretty good size scratches on these and they are getting dull. Does anyone know how to refinish these wheels? Are they chromed or just polished? Also, do they have some sort of clear coat finish?

Im pretty sure they have a clear coat. I have noticed that my clearcoat is peeling off as well. I was washing my truck today and was was thinking the very same thing, how can I re-coat them with clear. Keep us updated if you find an easy way to refinish them.

The only way to really do a decent job is to use aircraft aluminum stripper and strip the clear off of them. Then you gotta sand your a** off with 400, then 600 , and so on depending on how polished you want them. Then you can either reclear them or take a buffing wheel and buff them with compound to bring them up to a mirror finish. I have done this so a set of wheels off of my daytona and they look great but its a ton of work to maintane them if you dont clear them due to the aluminum being exposed to the weather. Id recommend clear coating them on a daily driver.
