Temp Sensor

My overhead console temp readings are not very true...I know the sensor is in the engine compartment some place...but where ?? and can it be moved ??

Not sure if it is the same, but my 98 has the sensor in the middle of the grill. It is mounted on the latch hardware. Thought about moving it, but after I start moving, the temp appears to be pretty accurate. At least after about 3-4 minutes operation.

Mine's on the driver side of the grill. Not accurate sitting still (engine heat-sun-etc.) Very accurate when moving except with the cold front on, then there is engine heat trapped in there - which the cold front is supposed to do.

On my '99, the temp sensor is on the latch hardware, as stated above. It is usually between a degree or two from the bank temperatures as I pass their big signs...not sure that makes it accurate, tho!

Mine read 63 degrees this morning .... brrrrrrrr

I'll look around my engine compartment again to try and find the sensor.....my temp readings are about 7-10* warmer then the true air temp....so I thought if I could move the sensor I mite get a truer temp reading

Try looking on the left or right vertical frame support for the radiator around bumper height. My old 97 was mounted there, I think in 98 they moved it to the hood.

If its off alot you might look at getting a new sensor or just try cleaning the tip.

Overhead Console Temp Sensor

My display is a little off starting about 2 weeks ago. I'll clean it and see what it says. Is there a testing procedure for the sensor? It reads from 2-10 degrees off.

I cleaned it, so we'll see if that works. I an thinking that I can put a different sensor on it and install it in the head. Then I will be able to read head temperature on the overhead console.
