Stereo question. I recently bought a 1997 2500 whic the radio did not work in. Replaced the stereo with JVC cd player. When it turns on it plays for a few seconds and then no sound. There’s still power to the unit, but no sound. Anyone run into this?

 

If I remember correctly, key word remember, if it had the premium sound system in it, can't remember the name for sure, I think it was Infinity, there is a relay under the dash that powers the amplifiers. That will stop the sound while leaving the head unit functional. Make sure the aux power on wire is connected properly.

 

This truck had an aftermarket stereo in it that didn’t work, so it ,ay have had the infinity upgrade, but I don’t know. Any ide which wire has to be powered? I can’t find anything online.

 

Easy to tell if a truck had the infinity sound system even with the radio swapped out. Are there little Infinity speakers in the upper door panel? If the door panels are original they will also say Infinity on the door panel.

 

Nope. Which is why it’s even more confusing. The issue I’m having seems like it ,it’s have the amp, but doesn’t seem like it should.
