Stereo problems
Stereo problems
Lets see if someone can help me out on this. I have a Pioneer CD player, which is about 4 or 5 years old. Yesterday I got a FM modulator installed professionally for my sirius radio. Drove it home, everything was peachy, went straight to work and parked the rig. Got off work fired up the truck and the cd player was going off and on, lose connection no biggie. I fix that problem this morning and now I have NO sound whatsoever. The cd player stays on but the amp/speakers/subs wont kick on. After about an hour of fiddling with it and cussin up a storm, I had to stop and go to work. Anyone have any suggestions to try? I know the modulator is kicking on because I will disconnect the power supply and reconnect it and I can hear it click???? HELP
Is the amplifier turning on? Check the remote wire coming from the stereo. There is generally a "remote" wire that comes from the stereo that when the stereo is powered up, supplies 12 VDC to the amp and turns it on.
from there make sure the fuse that is in-line from the batteries has not blown becacuse you may have forgotten to disconnect 12v power to the amps and shorted it out....once you have determined that the 12v positive is good from the batteries check the remote lead from the deck....if that is good....check to see that the installer did not get the power to the deck and the memory power to the deck confuzed...one is red the other is yellow...if 12v power is hooked into the memory lead (which keeps your radio stations, time, and balance/fade/bass/trebel levels) your deck will power on but in older decks it will not give sound....
start with the easy one...power to amps...via 12v direct from batteries and then move to remote and so on.

I'd like to but its an hour away. I bought the speakers and the satelitte radio from a electronics chain with the thought they could install themselves since they had a installation bay. Well lo and behold the guy quit so they sent me to this place an hour away...But its fixed, it was the remote wire...after all that headache...Thanks for the replies...very helpful.
