The Valvoline juice was OK, but the system still howled when temps hit about -30°. First year with Lubegard it didn't howl past -40°.
I noticed that hydroboost systems are a bit harder on fluid than conventional steering assist systems. I flush every couple years and top off with Lubegard. I use 1½ bottles of Lubegard due to the slightly higher capacity.
My brother has a Ford Explorer. After replacing both the rack & pump it had a nasty whine. Dealer said normal. He sucked down the reservoir, started the engine and added Lubegard. The whine stopped before the bottle was empty.
