steering box

one of the ears that bolts my steering box to the frame broke off. can i weld it back on or am i screwed and have to buy a new steering box?

I would say that you need to get another box , cast iron can take some special handling to weld , then you would need to partially disassemble , to keep form damaging seals ext. from heat .
Even then , it may not be strong enough to hold up .
What ever you do getting one of the brands of a steering brace is going a long way to stopping that , also I've seen cracked frames on these trucks , so that was one of my 1st mods .

get it welded by a pro...... if it doesn't work, then it's wrecking yard time

I know from experience that cast welding is absolutely no fun. With the heat involved you would be disassembling the box like was mentioned....I wouldn't waste your time with trying to repair the old box, there might be other stress fractures in it that you don't see!! That site looks to have some good fixes, I wasn't aware there was a track bar retrofit kit!

Welding cast iron is not worth the trouble.
