right rear brake hanging up
My truck was pulling to the right, when braking, the last week or so. I pulled all four wheels this evening and found a heavy brake dust buildup, to the point of clumping up, in the right rear drum. I cleaned up both rear drums and adjusted the rear brakes just to the point of dragging/touching the rear drum. I believe my parking brakes aren't releasing completely, as the rear shoe on the right rear appeared to be the one that was dragging and causing the heavy buildup of dust. Also, when I release the parking brake, it doesn't snap & release like it used to. I can see the rubber bumper doesn't come all the way forward to the emergency brake pedal.
Is there anything I can do to maintain the emergency brake cables? Has anybody lubricated there's, and if so, what did you use? The springs and pivots look great in the rear drums, so the cables are the only thing I can think of to work on.
Thanks.
Roy
