Resonator Question

I know this question has probably been asked a hundred times but I can never find the answer when I want it.
Should i keep the resonator on my 94 when I straight pipe it or should I take it off? I just wonder about back pressure and if that is a problem?
Thanks

If the exhaust is factory on your 94 you do not have a resonator but a catalytic convertor. And it would not hurt to have it fall off, unless you have to pass emission testing. Goodluck,,Rick

If your looking for a louder sound then definently take it off, my 1998.5 has a straight pipe and is louder with it out, I had the muffler off then the resonator and its noticablely louder. But if you have to pass emissions tests that might be a problem with it off.

Early 94's did not have a Cat on them , so take a peek under your truck first.

This the the view under my truck:

And this is what fell out on that speed bump...

And to answer the origional question , the more backpressure you have , the worse off you are , the easier the exhaust can flow out , the better.
