replacing front brake pads

Was just wondering how hard it is to put new ones on, Got the new one's already but need to know how much time involved in the change. Ive done a ford before but don't know if the dodge is more difficult or easier. Any info is appreciated.

Re:replacing front brake pads

The front pads are pretty easy to do on the single piston calipers. If my memorys serves me correct you will need a 3/8 allen key or equivalent to remove the two slide pins that hold the caliper tot he truck. The rest is pretty simple but make sure you lube the slides with high temp grease before putting it all back together.

Good luck

If you have changed them on a ford then you will have no problem with your Ram. Scubasteve hit it right on the head with hi directions.

My '01 has dual piston calipers and it was a T-45 to take the slide bolts out.

Re:replacing front brake pads

Your 2000 has single piston calipers which use a hex key. 2001 and up have dual piston calipers that use a torx instead.

Re:replacing front brake pads

I need to change mine out on my new truck. I helped a friend out on his 2001 4x4. I have changed many brake pads out on many vehicles, but we could not get the pads off. there were these little thin, metal clips that we couldnt figure out.

can someone tell my what the trick is with these clips?
or atleast tell me how to change them on a 2001 4x4?

Re:replacing front brake pads

The thin metal clip (longer of the 2 I think) has to be bent up out of the way so the caliper will lift off, then the the pads slide out.
