Question Remote Keyless Entry - Technical Question

First a little background..

When I got this truck the prior owner didn't have (lost) the FOBs. Pressed for time before I had to head across country, I took the truck to the dealer. I also requested a pair of new FOBs and programming but was told the tech wasn't able to program the new FOBs for some reason. No elaboration was given except they guess the RKE module was NFG.

Anyhow, the truck also had a busted driver side door jamb/dome light switch.

I replaced this a little while ago and discovered that various features seems to come to life -- obvously the dome light, headlight buzzer, ignition key buzzer, door buzzer, the "automatic door unlocker w/key in ignition" feature and maybe some others that I have yet to figure out.

So the question is, does anyone know if that broken switch prevented the tech from programming the FOBs?

IE: the RKE module not in the loop or fully functional without that switch

..I'm thinking that maybe it's just a sort of odd situation the tech could have not known or overlooked the importance of that switch and reliant circuits. It's obviously more complex than just a mere light switch.

Pretty sure a major step of the programming procedure is "Close all doors",
and if that switch was broken, the computer thought the door was open.

That sounds like a reasonable assumption to me.

Yesterday I dropped by the dealer and asked a service 'check-in' guy about it, describing basically what my initial post says. He said it wasn't related.. However given that he's not a mechanic and I didn't push for a more qualified person's answer I have my doubts he knows for sure.

I may have to set up another appointment to get a satisfactory answer. I'd figure that if it can't be done still they'd not charge me.
