Rekey Door Locks
Rekey Door Locks
My 96 3500 recently gave up the original ignition key switch. The new one uses a new key and is installed. Not sure what to do now. Re-key the doors or try to re-key the ignition? I'd rather not have to carry two different keys. Can lock-smiths re-key the doors?
If you have saved the old ignition cylinder it's quick work for a good locksmith to rekey your new ignition to the door key.
If not... cheaper to have 2 keys.. also an advantage if you have to give the key to someone to fetch something out of the truck, but not drive it..

Thanks for the reply. I also had a cracked dash. Bought a good junk yard dash and installed it myself. Hardest part was to reconnect my old aftermarket alarm system so the truck would run.
