door locks (bomb money now goes to fixing)

Well, I woke up this morning to see my door handle bezel pried out.....Nice of them to buckle the door panel as well as destroy the paint around it....Anybody have a fix or something to stop the door handle pry out problem? Stole my stereo, alond with a few personal possesions, a Snap-on air wrench, and a Coleco air wrench from work.... Only 2,000 bucks worth of air wrench..

Hard to explain that one.

Arrrghh...Now my bomb money is going towards fixing things..

Just when I was ready, I get kicked in the sweaty nut sack...

Insurance won't cover it?
I don't know of a particular fix, but it if has bolts holding it in you might be able to rig a plate across the back of it that goes over the bolts/studs and will make it more difficult to get through. Then again, I don't know how well the bolts/studs are anchored in the plastic bezel though.
Keep in mind that if they hadn't gotten in that way they might have broken a window (this might have been easier to fix).
I was robbed once, but my truck wasn't locked so no damage there.

Good luck.

Chris
Doesn't the truck sound the horn or something with the factory alarm? If you are looking for a Diesel alarm I have the alarm that won alarm of the year. Its a 2 way pager system I will sell it to you for cost since you are a fellow DTR member in need.

Hey Jamie, what horn??? I don't think it has a factory alarm, not that I am aware of...... It doesnt have keyless entry, if that has anything to do with it........

Now its up to about a g-note on the body fix, the whole door mechanism is hooped, and they have to paint whole door and the quad cab door to blend it all in....Ya know, remove plastic this, put plastic trim that on......remove install blah blah blah..

Gonna put in a huge rocking stereo, blast it around, then put on one of those south african car alarms.....flame thrower out the side at the bottom ....

What brand/model is that alarm Jamie? PM me...

Thanks... Oh yeah... Anybody with a stock CD they want to part with?? Nobody wants to steal that I hope.....

Sorry to hear about your truck. When I bought my truck I was going to have an alarm put on it but I didn’t really want to spend the money at the time. So I decided to try something else. Check this out - www.lightrite.com/PnP.htm Don’t laugh too hard but so far no problem. Other vehicles in my area have been broken into, but not mine. Instead of paying over 200 I only spent 20.

Thats a funny toy to have in your truck. Be nice if you could have it built in to the dash so it does not stick out so far.
DM01

You could make one with a couple dollars of parts from Radio Shack, if you were so inclined.

Could mount it in an "OEM" location to look even more "real".

You can even buy stickers at Rat Shack, even more preventative measures.

phox

How's about something like this.

http://www.geocities.com/dak2nv/doorplates

I have mine on order. There are a few local guys around here running them, one of which had an attempted break in thru the lock, but they never got into the truck.
