Rear Brakes Dragging
Rear Brakes Dragging
I had the seals redone last year, and since I was in there i replaced the rear pads. It seems that the rear brakes over tighten now. I can untighten them by rolling the star back, but they will over tighten again. It was suggested to me that it was the e-brake, so I stopped using it. They still drag. My pedal is also totally different now. The brake pedal has very little travel and my e-brake pedal also has very little travel. I looked on the forum, but it seems that most people have the opposite problem and their adjusters don't actually tighten. Any ideas?
didyou do both sides at the same time and mix up the adjusters? or are the seals leaking again and there is a light film of oil on the shoes? if P-brake is stuck 1/2 way it will cause locking issues, you have to remove drum and physically force P-brake arms towards rear of truck to ensure they are fully released.
re-read post, when you back star wheel off do you need to push the adjuster arm away from the star wheel before it will back off? or do you just stick the tool in the hole and back off the brakes?

Both sides were done at the same time. I have to pull up on the lever to get the wheel to move. If the p-brake is sticking halfway where does it stick? How do I fix that? I stopped using it, but my wife drove the truck and I know she used it. Do the cables get gunked up, or is it somewhere else?
I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!
