Proud new owner !

Just bought a CTD yesterday from a reputable dealer.2001, dark green, short bed, auto, 2WD, loaded with options. 58,000 miles on the clock. I am very impressed with the way it drives. My wife loves it too. It was awesome to see on the overhead computer the mileage readout - 22 mpg. Way better than my straight 6 gasser Ford.

congradulations! i just bought the same truck, but 5sp, and 4x4.

i dont mean to take the wind out of your sails, but do a manual calculation for your mileage. The computers are not always as accurate as you would hope. Plus, a manual calc. never lies.

everytime i fill up I take the amount of gallons i put in, and divide that by the amount of miles i had on that tank. I really hope you are getting 22mpg's. I am averaging 15.5.

congradualtions, and good luck.

As far as the mileage I was going off of the mode that gives real time calculations and at that speed cruising said 22. I absolutley love this truck, its a joy to drive. I am very impressed with its power, and I love hearing the turbo sing. I will have to pull the silencer ring.

Hey nice going I have an 01 and it's the best truck I have owned. Like the others I would suggest you do the math on the mileage don't believe the on board computer alone. If you are hearing the turbo now chances are your silencer ring is already MIA I couldn't hear mine untill I killed the silencer ring and replaced the air filter with a better flowing one anyhow drive on and enjoy, welcome to cummins power.
BTW I get 14-16 mpg but I have 4X4 i'm sure it's less fuel concious than 2X

I can hear the turbo, but its not loud. I have the stock airbox still. I think the reason I hear the turbo is that the radio is never turned on. Who needs music when you have the sweet sound of a Cummins rumbling under the hood! ;D

Re:Proud new owner !

Congrats....

I also just bought my first Dodge and first diesel this past Tuesday.(stats in sig)

I've owned many(5) Chevy's, all gas and could never understand why someone would want a "stinky, loud diesel!"

This week driving to work, I stopped listening to the radio and in rush-hour traffic, sit in the farthest left-lane next to the concrete road barrier, roll down my window, crank the heat and listen for that SWEET 6-Cylinder diesel sound and get a whiff of exhaust every now and then. I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Same with bridges, parking garages, and carwashes...
My girlfriend thinks I'm sick! (she's right, I am! ) )

I used to be a psycho about that Chevy exhaust tone and Flowmasters or glasspacks.....Those days are gone and behold the sound of the CTD!!!!!!

Good luck and enjoy the truck.

Patrick
