problem with power windows
hey gang
did a search but didn't find what I needed.....
my 94 is having window issues. the passenger window will go up, but not down. both switches will take it up, but neither will put it down. that leads me to believe its the motor. However, I unplugged the connector & put 12 volts directly to the terminals & the motor will make the window go up or down just fine. So this makes me think maybe its not the motor. Could there be a loose connection in the power wire part of the wire 'harness' that plugs into the back of the switch?

It has to be the wiring to or inside of the passenger side door as the odds of both switches failing at the same time would be almost impossible.
Since you were able to make the window go up and down by jumping at the terminal the wiring must be good on the motor side of the terminal.
I'm thinking the problem is under the dash.

I had a similiar problem onmy 98 gasser. It turned out that the plug that went into the motor was coroded. sorry for the spelling.
I cleaned it and lubed it with dielectric grease and worked fine for many years.

hey gang spent some quality time at the junkyard yesterday........lol
called a friend whos really good at electrical, & he said most likely the passenger side switch.
Turns out it was the drivers side switch.... all is well-thanks for the replies!
