Pre-Wired?
I am considering purchasing the powered and heated tow mirrows that come on a 3rd generation truck. My 2001 truck came new with the optional manual tow mirrors. I have the SLT Larmie package. How can I find out if my truck came pre-wired for power and heated mirrors? I will not attempt the job myself if additional wiring is involved. Any help would be appreciated.

The 3rd generation mirrors will fit with some minor modifications. There are threads on this site that show the step by step modifications that are required.

pre-wired
I pulled my door panels to repair a blown speaker and found my truck was pre-wired for power mirrors('01.5 SLT Laramie). I also have the trailer mirrors. I had to take them apart and repair both of them, one was stuck and the other way loose. It was a simple job and now both are firm and stay put. When prying off the door panel be sure to get the interior panel pulling tool and take your time. There are 13 Christmas tree plug clips that hold the panel in place( $2 each at dealer..ouch!), and three screws...one at front upper and two in door pull. The Christmas tree plugs sometimes can be re-used but are a edit to line up. I read a thread that said something about getting them on e-bay for a lot less. Also my pre wire connectors wer visible in the upper forward corner of the panel. You may be able to see them by removing the screw and pulling just that corner away and looking in, they are easy to see. Good luck
