power service

Anyone else is using this additive, how do you like it? Did you notice any difference with and without it? Should I keep using it or it's just a gimmick?

In a poll of big rig operators Power Service was the most used by far.
I use it only in the winter for it's anti-gel properties but have 12 valves.
With the VP pump's dependence on fuel for lubrication I think it would be wise to use PS or another additive year round.
Common mistake people make with additives is thinking more is better.
The recommended rates work just as well as too much.
The only problem with too much though is wallet damage.

When they screw up and not get enough additive, you will understand.

The first year for ULSD there were more frozen trucks than you could count around here. This year they switched to Bio blend, and the same thing was happening.

For the little bit it costs, I refuse to get stranded.

I use and like it. However, I do not see any MPG gains from it.

I've seen #2 winter blend gel in the hoses at the pump.. the service station had to keep a space heater on the pump / hose to sell diesel..

Engine sounds more quiet to me......I've been told( by people I trust) that an engine that runs PS is much cleaner at rebuild time.

I think you will find that it just gives a warm and fuzzy feeling to those that use it. I know I have no scientific proof.

I recently got a 1990 VW 1.6 diesel IDI non-turbo Jetta. 5 spd. 164,000kms on it. to thump back and forth to work.

changed the fuel filter in it when I got it. ran 3 tanks through it for 35 MPG on the nose every time.

pulled the fuel lines off the filter and burned 850ml pure power service grey in the engine. varied engine speed. took about 40 minutes to burn through.

hooked fuel lines back up. gained 1.6 MPG on the next tank. I only use it in my trucks in the winter for anti gel though.

I use PS white bottle year round mainly to lube the vp. I put dieselkleen silver bottle in four times a year and haven't needed the red bottle yet. I haven't really not used it so I can't say, but my truck is a lot quieter on 2 stroke or a 20% bio blend.
