Power seat problem

Any body have to fix a power seat motor ? if so where did you get the parts?

Mine has a stripped nylon drive gear that feeds the worm drive for the rear horizontal adjustment. I found the entire base on line for $515.00 but I sure don't want to do that, all I need is the nylon gear.

I have a call out on the network through wrecking yards trying to find a single motor or something. Any suggestions?

You're only going to find new as an assembly. Best bet is to find local used part yard and pick what you need. I'm pretty sure you can adapt any one of the 3 motors to work where needed. My back up/down stopped working some time ago and after all was said and done I figured since I drive it more than my wife I left it how I like it and forgot about it.

I am hoping some one will tell me where they found the little nylon gear for $2.50 so I can fix this one. Yeah I know it isn't likely to happen, but you never know

So far the wrecking yards seem the way to go, but I am checking on some other stuff too. Thanks for the suggestions

What caused the nylon gear to strip? Age or straining against a load

Assume you have already looked, but is there a name on the motor?

I worked at a seating plant for the Chrylser Plant in Newark DE. This is one of those part they sweep up an toss out every shift change.
Too bad you can't hook up with someone that unloads the crates of power tracks, they have probably slipped and fell on a few of them.

I've done a google and yahoo search and come up with nothing.
Best bet is a junkyard, the 1500 should have the same motors.
Saw this on about.com Click here
Pretty much states what the 1997 Mopar FSM says.

Hey Top,
I don't know how much of a hurry you're in, but if you watch Ebay, the entire seat tracks show up now and then.

I am in the process of putting some 98-up seats in my 96. At this moment the plan is to use the old seat tracks, so I can keep my power seat, but if I end up going another way, I'll send you mine.

Bill that second one sure looks like the motor I am looking for. If nothing else I may now know the motor is made by Valeo

Thanks!

OK Top, things are leaning your favor. The 96 seat tracks don't seem to work with 99 seats. This ain't set in stone, yet, but I am trying to secure some other seats. Stay tuned.....
