Possible dead pedal?

Good day boys, I have a “possible” dead pedal question/ inquiry, Driving up hill (maybe 4 /5%grade) hit the bottom at 65, temp: 70 degrees outside, doing as expected for about 1000 feet, almost to the top and wanted to see if she had anymore in her (was not towing anything) just as all the conditions came together almost to the top (inertia) I tapped the pedal and asked for more, and I didn’t really get it, is that all she’s got at 65 up hill or could this be a possible dead pedal occurrence?
Shortly there after on flat surface, I floored it, little black smoke, but pulled like a ape.
Was I expecting to much or?
Any input would be helpful.
Thanks
Update: I also checked for codes viva on.off,on,off,on, nothing,(provideing) I did it right
